U3As are voluntary Seniors’ Groups that provide educational, recreational and social programs. Each U3A is organised by and for people who can best be described as being active in retirement or semi-retirement, the third age of our lives.
U3A Bendigo was established for people in their third age, retired or semi-retired. Our Mission is to provide opportunities for seniors to learn, teach, share and to give mutual support to each other in a friendly and warm environment, regardless or ethnicity, religion, ability or disability.
Our Activities cover a wide range of interest areas, from academic, physical, social and artistic activities. Our members enjoy both the intellectual engagement and the social aspect of our Activities and we hope this all leads to a higher sense of well being.
Our members have mostly led busy, active lives and have stories to tell, experiences to share, skills to pass on and passions to explain. U3A Bendigo is fortunate that many of our members also act as Convenors who run varied sessions for our members. We are indebted to our Convenors, some of whom have been running Activities for years and we are always looking for new Convenors who would be willing to share what they know.
Life-Long-Learning is one of the cornerstones of U3A and it is through the generosity of our Convenors that we are able to offer so many Activities.
U3A Bendigo is open to anyone who is retired or no longer working full time. No qualifications are required to join. Our Activities are non-competitive, without marks or exams. We focus on enabling members to expand their knowledge in existing areas, and to explore new fields and activities.
